Explore Our Sessions
Three session formats, one sensory foundation. Built so every resident can take part, whatever their stage of dementia or level of mobility.
Garden Tales
(90 minutes ยท up to 12 participants)
Focus: identity, storytelling and social connection.
Garden Tales is the garden brought inside. Participants move through a guided sensory journey engaging touch, taste, smell and sound. Built around storytelling and reminiscence, reconnecting with gardens, farms and childhood backyards, and leave with something to keep: a beautiful flower arrangement or a flower brooch.
No outdoor space needed. We bring everything required.
Supporting outcomes: maintained identity and self-esteem, social connection, preserved fine motor skills, and something made to show family.
Best for: early stage dementia, general aged care residents
Sight, hearing and smell are still strong, so sessions can be full and varied. A single sprig of rosemary can open up a whole story. Participants handle tools, follow multi-step activities, and choose their own materials.
Stories & Soil
(90 minutes ยท up to 6 participants ยท concentrated attention within the group)
Focus: confidence, calm engagement and moments of success.
Multi-Sensory Nature Immersion; built for people living with advanced dementia or where the pace of a larger group isn't the right fit.
Working with scent, touch and sound drawn from the garden, these smaller sessions are calm and unhurried. For people who find bigger activities overstimulating, this format opens a way back in.
Supporting outcomes: engagement without frustration, reduced agitation, continued communication as verbal language declines, and preserved dignity through achievable participation.
Best for: middle to late stage dementia - for residents who can take part in a small shared group
As dementia progresses, the brain finds it harder to filter competing input. Sessions are pared back: one scent at a time, a single clear soundscape, high-contrast flowers that are easier for changing vision to find. Activities are broken into single steps, and scent and touch do more of the work as words become harder to find.
1:1 Sessions
(90 minutes ยท Individuals, split across several participants in their rooms)
Focus: comfort, presence and emotional connection.
For people who can't join a group. Nursed in bed, unable to leave their room, or no longer able to follow group conversation.
A facilitator brings the garden to the bedside: fresh flowers to hold and smell, herbs to crush between fingers, and a small plant to keep, with no participation pressure. Sessions can run for one resident the full time, or be split into shorter visits across several residents in a single call-out.
Supporting outcomes: comfort and reduced distress, moments of connection and responsiveness, continued inclusion through to end of life, and reassurance for families that their loved one is still being reached.
Best for: late stage dementia and end-of-life care -for residents who can't join a group, whether due to behaviours that challenge, inability to leave their room, or medical status
Even when words and recognition fade, people can still be reached through sound, smell and touch. A familiar scent, soft petals in an open hand, quiet birdsong. The pace slows right down to meet each resident where they are.
