How this connects to your compliance

Aged care providers now have to follow a set of rules called the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, which started on 1 November 2025. There are seven of these standards in total, and a few of them line up directly with what Gentle Spaces sessions are built to do.

Standard 1: The Individual
This standard is about treating every resident as their own person, not just "a resident." It means understanding someone's identity, culture, and life story, and using that to shape how care is delivered. Our sessions are built around this directly, using scent, story, and objects that connect to a resident's own past, rather than a one-size-fits-all activity.

Standard 3: The Care and Services
This standard requires that the care and activities a resident receives are genuinely tailored to them, not just ticked off a list. It specifically calls out that activities need to be meaningful, not tokenistic, and that they should support a resident's quality of life. This is the core of why we run three different session formats. A resident who can't join a big group still needs something real, not just something that counts as "done."

Standard 4: The Environment
This standard is about residents receiving care in a setting that's safe, supportive, and suited to their needs. Since our sessions come to the resident, whether that's a lounge room, a smaller quiet space, or a bedside, we're adapting the setting to the person, not asking the person to adapt to a standard activities room.

Standard 7: The Residential Community
This standard recognises that once someone moves into residential care, that facility becomes their whole community, and that isolation and loneliness are real risks. Our group and small-group sessions are built specifically to create genuine social connection and shared experience, not just a room full of people doing the same activity separately.

Put simply: when a facility books Gentle Spaces, they're not just adding an activity to the calendar. They're getting a concrete way to show these specific standards are being met for every resident, including the residents who are usually hardest to reach.
